Disaster Response
The Disaster Preparedness and Response program opened its doors September 1, 2009. The mission of this program is to implement a comprehensive disaster preparedness and response program across the diocese. The objective is to prepare the agency, the Diocese of Jackson and the surrounding community for effective and coordinated responses to emergencies. The purpose of the Disaster Preparedness and Response program is to equip the community, agency, and diocese with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves and respond in the wake of a disaster. In doing so, future disaster response efforts will prove to be more successful in preparedness and response, because the community will be trained and ready.
Because needs and funds differ during a disaster, services are limited to and may change according to the particular disaster, level of severity of damages to impacted communities, individual needs, and local resources available.

The Disaster Preparedness & Response Program serves Catholic Charities, Inc. and the Diocese of Jackson in coordinating a response to and preparation for disasters across Mississippi. Through coordination with local parishes, MEMA, FEMA, and local disaster response teams, serivices are brought to those suffering from natural disaster.
